Splurge or Save?
This blog post is in partnership with Wayfair & contains affiliate links. All opinions, images & product suggestions are my own.
I’ve actually built my entire brand around helping others find great home items for less… but I have to admit, there’s an occasional splurge that is worth the spend! I thought it would be fun to share a few tips on ways I like to save when designing a space and also what criteria I look for in a splurge-worthy purchase. I’d also like to give a big shout out to Wayfair, my go-to no matter what the budget is! I love their broad selection of products and the fact that they have great items in any price point! Now, let’s get to some examples of splurge vs save in my own home…

For our dining room I knew I wanted to create an organic, minimal space with texture and tone-on-tone style! I was able to find these awesome upholstered end chairs to level up the design and would you believe they’re a save item?! They’re on casters for easy movement and I have been really happy with the quality + fabric as well. I paired those with the affordable, but designer look cream side chairs— love their contrast against the wood table! And you probably guessed it… this gorgeous dining table was my splurge for the space!
It’s a Wayfair find too & sooo nice. I love how solid it is, the detail of the pedestal base and the fact that it has 3 different length options (with leaves you can add in!). It’s the perfect table for daily use & also for entertaining larger groups! I wanted a more heirloom quality dining table to last through the years & I knew it would be easier to swap out chairs down the road if I wanted to change up the space. So for me, a solid wood dining table with gorg details & size flexibility was worth the splurge!

Another thing I will splurge on is quality faux trees & this one in our living room checks all the boxes! It looks so realistic. I think that cheap faux plants are usually just that— cheap! I’m so glad I went with this amazing faux black olive to make a statement in our living room. It comes in a variety of heights which was awesome for the high ceilings in this room. To help balance out the splurge on the tree, I opted for a cost-friendly rug! I’ve found the prices of rugs vary greatly, but that you can get a great looking one that’s durable too, without spending the big bucks, so I definitely recommend rugs as a way to SAVE! This one I used in our living room is another of my fave Wayfair buys. It’s got beautiful neutral tones, subtle texture and that perfect green undertone I adore. Plus it comes in huge sizes too— this one is nearly 12x15!
In the bedroom I scored a bunch of great save items. Starting with the framed canvases. They have a designer look, European style that’s shockingly affordable. I also got the rug and chair at great prices from Wayfair and the bed as the real focal point was only a slight splurge, really quite reasonable for how pretty it is! Again, really nice quality and I love how the curves soften the space. The large scale chandelier is another score. A lot of times large scale lighting can get pricey, but the one I used for this room is a great bang for your buck— a real reasonable option for classic style! Wayfair has proven time & time again, you don’t have to spend a lot to create a beautifully curated home. You can shop all my faves at the links above & I’d love to hear what items you’re willing to splurge on too! Leave me a comment. XOXO!
